RESITRIX® shows Support to Local Community Spirit

September 2011 | Daventry

Liverpool Legends Charity Match.
In aid of ‘HELP FOR HEROES’, ‘HILLSBOROUGH FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP’ and the ‘DAVENTRY TOWN FC COMMUNITY CHARITY FUND’.

Daventry Town Football Club (DTFC) supports a number of Charity organisations through their community Charity Fund. As part of this support, DTFC arranged for the Liverpool Legends from the 70's, 80's & 90's to participate in a full, 90 minute 11 a side match in order to raise money for the following causes which each use the money raised to help improve the lives of people who have been touched by tragedy: “Help for Heroes”, the “Hillsborough Family Support Group” that supports families from the Hillsborough disaster of 1989 and the “Daventry Town FC Community Charity Fund”.

Based near Daventry, PDT Sealing Systems Ltd., manufacturer of the easy-to-install high-performance roofing membrane RESITRIX®, were approached and asked if there was anything we could do to help.

Of course the answer was yes as we as a company also dedicate ourselves to Corporate Social Responsibility and are always willing to contribute our special part and support worthwhile causes. As such we were glad to supply the DTFC team with 21 training tops. Additionally we supported the event by placing advertisements in the programme and sponsored further key elements within the day like for instance two charity match banners and a RESITRIX® football jersey signed by the Liverpool Legends which was used as a raffle prize at the event.

The about 2.000 people who turned up to support the prestigious event witnessed an exciting day and an excellent football match of the “Daventry Town Reds X1 versus Liverpool Legend” which saw variety of many house hold names such as:

  • JASON McATEER who played for LIVERPOOL FC and made several appearances in both the 1994 and 2002 world cup. Jason then went on to play for Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland in the Premier League.
  • ALAN KENNEDY who played 251 games for LIVERPOOL FC. Alan had many honours at his time at Liverpool winning 4 league Titles, 4 League Cup’s and 3 Community Shield. But Alan will properly be best remembered for his winning goal in 1981 EUROPEAN CUP against REAL MADRID in Paris and for his winning penalty in the 1984 EUROPEAN CUP.
  • PHIL NEAL who played 455 games for LIVERPOOL FC and won the EUROPEAN CUP 4 times and the Domestic league 8 times as well as earning 50 England caps scoring 5 goals.

Other players included Bob Boulder, Rob Jones, Mark Wright, Phil Babb, Paul Walsh, Michael Thomas, John Durin and Mark Walters. These great players were managed by the well known ex LIVERPOOL Manager Roy Evans who spent over 30 years at LFC as player, coach and 1st team Manager.

Due to the great number of support of all who attended the event, it has been highly successful, benefiting the good cause and of course raised considerable donations directly for these charities.
